It was during the solemn public hearing on October 21, 2020, that the UEMOA Court of Justice held its 2020-2021 judicial reopening, in the presence of the Minister of Justice of Burkina Faso, René BAGORO, the President of the UEMOA Commission, Abdallah BOUREIMA, the Presidents of the judicial institutions of Burkina Faso, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, among others.
After discussing the difficult working conditions imposed by the health crisis and its impact on the economies of the Union’s member states, Mr. Daniel TESSOUGUE, President of the UEMOA Court of Justice, in his speech, emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law and the supremacy of community norms over national laws to ensure the realization of the ambitions of the UEMOA Treaty.
He then presented a report on the judicial activities of his jurisdiction over the past year before thanking the Commission for its support. President TESSOUGUE finally wished that the new judicial year would be one of peace, security, health, happiness, and harmony for all communities within the UEMOA space.
