Me Joseph DJOGBENOU, President of the Constitutional Court of Benin at the WAEMU Court of Justice

Master Joseph DJOGBENOU, President of the Constitutional Court of Benin, was received in audience by the President of the UEMOA Court of Justice.

A delegation from the Constitutional Court of Benin, led by its President, Master Joseph DJOGBENOU, visited the headquarters of the UEMOA Court of Justice on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. They were welcomed by the President of the UEMOA Court of Justice, Mr. Daniel Amagoin TESSOUGUE, who was accompanied for the occasion by Madam the First Advocate General, Victoire Eliane ALLAGBADA JACOB, and Judges Euloge AKPO and Ladislau Clemente Fernando EMBASSA.

During this meeting, the two Presidents primarily discussed the important role entrusted to national courts and the Court of Justice in the implementation of UEMOA community law.

The discussions also focused on the need to establish permanent judicial dialogue within the Union and across Africa, notably by intensifying inter-jurisdictional meetings.

On this subject, the Constitutional Court of Benin officially invited the UEMOA Court of Justice to a conference scheduled for June 2022 in Cotonou, which will bring together French-speaking constitutional courts and African community courts.

It is worth noting that the Constitutional Court is the highest jurisdiction in constitutional matters in this member state of the Union.
