Message from the President

The Court of Justice of UEMOA has redesigned its website, now incorporating innovative tools for research and interaction.
This initiative, driven by the entire Court, aligns with the goal of providing citizens of our community and beyond with a practical and modern tool for understanding community law.
In saying this, I am thinking of students, academics, legal practitioners, and all those who are keen to stay informed about the evolution of community law.
In saying this, I am thinking of students, academics, legal practitioners and all those who want to keep abreast of developments in Community law.
The UEMOA, which was created in January 1994, should be the property of the citizens, whose interests it serves. To this end, the widespread adage that ‘no one is supposed to be ignorant of the law’ should place an obligation on those working in the sector to make Community law available.
Community law should not be the prerogative of a minority of insiders. It must be available everywhere, so as to formally guarantee the rights of all, through its dissemination and application in every nook and cranny of our common space.
Our societies, which claim to be democratic, must be societies governed by the rule of law. The rule of law must be a requirement in order to perpetuate peace and move towards development.
The rallying cry of some young people in the 1990s, ‘NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE’, in other words ‘without justice, there can be no peace’, should convince every citizen of the world, whether or not they practise law, that our future will lie in respect for the rule of law.
For its part, the UEMOA Court of Justice, through this tool, capable of reaching the masses, intends to modestly play its part in the dissemination and popularisation of the law.
We are at the beginning of this adventure. This will be a period of experimentation, during which the opinions, advice, observations and criticisms of users will be solicited, in order to bring us to a high level of perfection.
Welcome to the UEMOA Court of Justice website.
